XC Racing returns to Lee Quarry with series 2 of the Hope Technology sponsored XC races. Series 1 with 230 individual riders taking part across the events has put XC racing back in the calendar in the North West attracting riders from up to 200 miles away. With a prize list that was the envy of many other established events coupled with the unique trophies it was a great success for the new organizing team and all the volunteers involved. Series 2 aims to build on this success developing the racing available for all. Series 2 retains the same simple single race format of series 1 with some important additions; there is a new category for 15 and 16 year old's and 17 year olds can race in the main categories and most importantly the catering is getting boosted to as there are bacon butties etc available in the event "hamlet" for that important post race carbohydrate/ protein intake. Sponsor/ prize news: Hope have generously come back on board with sponsorship for series 2. With great series prizes again including the SP XC6 wheelset, a complete brakeset, Hope lights and they have even chucked in some "Sh__shifter" for spot prizes. We also have the same unique trophies provided by Hope as well. Other generous category sponsorship is coming from Leisure Lakes and Minx-girl! We have also still got our infamous singlespeeder sub-category sponsored by Charlie the Bikemonger for those brave/ enlightened enough to race on one gear and the crud guards for those who can't keep it clean... Have-a-go Heroes have a great new series prize as Ed Oxley of Great Rock Training has provided a day's solo training for the lucky winner. Entry: You can pre-enter online at www.xcracer.com or download the entry form off the website for those who prefer to be retro and send us a cheque. For series 2 we have kept the pre-entry price the same for postal entries but we have had to increase the price for entry on the day. What does this mean? Well you can enter the whole series for essentially the same price as paying on the day for two races. So get your entries in now!! Pre-entry saves LOTS of time on the day and means our job is a lot easier and we order the right number of loos. Essentially we need to get the entries by the Tuesday before the race so the cheques have time to clear, so use a first class stamp please!! RACE DATES: 6th September, 27th September, 18th October 2009 There is a possibility we could sell out on the day as the numbers on the course are limited. So don't be disappointed get your pre-entry in now. See you on the start line!
